Honeywell ECO1003 Optical Smoke Sensor
The ECO-1003 is a wired optical smoke detector for detecting smoke development. This modern and compact optical detector is equipped with an optical indicator LED to read the status of the detector.
This detector is compatible with all Notifier conventional fire panels. A maximum of 32 detectors may be connected to a conventional fire loop (limit of the regulation).
This detector must be mounted on an ECO1000 base. The detector is also equipped with an extra status output for connecting and controlling an indicator.
This smoke detector is supplied without a base.
Base types suitable for an alarm system are the following:
- Smoke detector mounting base ECO1000BREL12L
- Smoke detector mounting base ECO1000BREL12NL
- Smoke detector mounting base ECO1000BREL24NL

After how many years do I have to replace an old fire detector with a new one?

A fire detector (smoke / heat detector) should generally be replaced every 10 years. This is the standard service life of most smoke detectors, including those from Jablotron, Notifier and DSC.
Why replace after 10 years?
> Sensor ageing: The smoke detector loses its sensitivity over time.
> Battery wear: Even models with long-life batteries can run out after 10 years.
> Reliability: After 10 years, the risk of faults increases and security systems must always be reliable.
