Notifier NFXI-OPT-BK Addressable Optical Smoke Detector Black

The NFXI-OPT-BK is an addressable smoke detector from Notifier. The detector is integrated in an analogue fire alarm system. This means that an alarm can be triggered locally instead of the entire system going into alarm. In addition, the smoke detector is equipped with an isolator that ensures that the rest of the detectors continue to function when they have a single fault.

The NFXI-OPT-BK is equipped with a LED indicator that shows the status of the smoke detector. Green indicates normal functionality, orange indicates fault or test mode and red indicates alarm. The smoke detector is compatible with a wide range of plinths, which may have a siren or flash unit built in. The standard plinth for the NFXI-OPT-BK is the B501AP-BK.

Product Questions

After how many years do I have to replace an old fire detector with a new one?
Question by: Wolfgang on Jun 7, 2025, 1:22 PM
A fire detector (smoke / heat detector) should generally be replaced every 10 years. This is the standard service life of most smoke detectors, including those from Jablotron, Notifier and DSC.

Why replace after 10 years?
> Sensor ageing: The smoke detector loses its sensitivity over time.
> Battery wear: Even models with long-life batteries can run out after 10 years.
> Reliability: After 10 years, the risk of faults increases and security systems must always be reliable.
