Question asked at Jablotron JA-151ST wireless Smoke and Heat detector
Question by: Wolfgang on Jun 7, 2025, 1:22 PMA fire detector (smoke / heat detector) should generally be replaced every 10 years. This is the standard service life of most smoke detectors, including those from Jablotron, Notifier and DSC.
Why replace after 10 years?
> Sensor ageing: The smoke detector loses its sensitivity over time.
> Battery wear: Even models with long-life batteries can run out after 10 years.
> Reliability: After 10 years, the risk of faults increases and security systems must always be reliable.
