Hello, can Ajax fire detector be used as a siren in case of break-in? That would make it useful compared to other connected fire detectors, as it would create loud noise in case of break-in. Or do I need to have internal sirens even if I also have AJAX fire detectors?

Unfortunately, this is not possible with the Ajax system, the siren only goes off in the event of a fire alarm. With Jablotron this is possible.

After how many years do I have to replace an old fire detector with a new one?

Jablotron JA-151ST wireless Smoke and Heat detector

Question by: Wolfgang on Jun 7, 2025, 1:22 PM
A fire detector (smoke / heat detector) should generally be replaced every 10 years. This is the standard service life of most smoke detectors, including those from Jablotron, Notifier and DSC.
Why replace after 10 years?
> Sensor ageing: The smoke detector loses its sensitivity over time.
> Battery wear: Even models with long-life batteries can run out after 10 years.
> Reliability: After 10 years, the risk of faults increases and security systems must always be reliable.
