A Conas electromagnet
A Conas electromagnet or adhesive magnet are available in a wide range from 60 to 500 kg. When powered, the magnet is energized and active (closed). If the electromagnet on the front is equipped with an LED, the status of the magnet can be checked. When the magnet is active and closed, it will be yellow/green. If the electromagnet is not active, the LED is red. The electromagnets can be powered on 12V or 24V as an adhesive magnet and you can choose from both built-in and surface-mounted electromagnets. They are perfect to use as fire door adhesive magnets.
Our range of Conas adhesive magnets offers the following options:
- Pulling force - from 60 to 500kg;
- Voltage - the electromagnets can be powered on both 12V and 24V;
- Weather resistance - also check the weatherproof electromagnets for outdoor applications;

Electromagnet for access control
The following locking mechanisms are commonly used in access control: electromagnet, bolt lock or electric strike. It is important to determine which form of access control is best for you. This will depend on which mounting form is easiest or is already present. Or which mechanism is least susceptible to sabotage. But the most important thing is what should be the behavior of the electromagnet in case of fire or emergency.
Here you should think of the terms 'Normally Open / Fail Safe' and 'Normally Closed / Fail Secure'. An electromagnet is normally 'Normally Open / Fail Safe', so always unlocked without voltage. For example, in the event of a fierce fire, the power can fail and the emergency exits open automatically. But it may also be the case that all emergency exits equipped with an electromagnet must open in the event of a fire. The access control system receives the alarm by means of a fire detector (in the event of a fire). order to open all doors, ie to de-energize the electromagnet. For a fire door a minimum of 180 kg, possibly with LED indication, is a good choice.
